If you’re not sold on the idea of having all your bridesmaids wear different dresses you might want to consider another way to “mix it up” a bit. One of my client’s had all the ladies wear the same dress but she had them accessorize with the broach of their choice.

I think this nice little detail is a great way to have each dress, each bridesmaid, a little different. Yet at first glace (and in the wedding pictures), they all look the same.

I was beyond thrilled to work with Leyla and Charlie for their May 21st wedding at The Rookery in Chicago. They have such fun, creative personalities which really added a lot of personal touches to their fantastic wedding. The wonderful and talented Laurie Peacock Photography captured all the special moments and details.

They became husband and wife at Assumption Church in Chicago. They couldn’t have asked for a nicer morning, especially since May was such a rainy month in Chicago this year.

The reception was filled with little details that are special to the bride and groom. New Orleans was the un-offical “theme” of the event and the bold colors really looked fantastic in The Rookery. It was a nice contrast having the bold style of New Orleans alongside a Burnham built building that has intricate gold stenciling by non other than Frank Lloyd Wright!

These gorgeous centerpieces were created by Blumgarten and they captured the brides vision perfectly. They gave away chocolates in the shape of the fleur-di-lis which is a French symbol associated with New Orleans.

The dinner menu was even NOLA inspired with beef tenderloin and BBQ shrimp with creole ssauce served over creamy stone ground grits. The talented chefs at Jewell Events Catering did a great job, the entree was fantastic and a big hit among the guests.

Take the Cake designed the beautiful and elegant wedding cake. The design reflected the style of the bride’s wedding gown and it was just stunning. Guests exclaimed it was the best wedding cake they’d ever tasted!
Please view this awesome video filmed by Kinema Group Films - they edited it during the reception and surprised everyone with a quick show and the bride, groom and guests had many tears.

I love the fresh vibe you get at The Danada House, located in Wheaton, Illinois. The grounds are so beautiful and include lots of fresh flowers, green grass and horse stables. The Danada House has so much fantastic charm, it really is the perfect setting for a summer wedding.

Robyn and Matt exuded a fresh, laid back, style and it was perfect for the venue. The bride was stunning with flowers in her hair and on her dress. Jenna Bruhn from Avant Gardenia creative an amazing bouquet that fit the bride’s style perfectly.

The groom and groomsmen looked sharp and cool on such a hot day! I am convinced this wedding happened on the hottest day of 2010.

The ceremony was held outside and was surrounded by trees, grass and sunshine.

The reception details really kept with the overall theme of the wedding. It was just beautiful and the vibrant green matched the green of the trees in the back ground nicely.

These centerpieces were perfect for the look and feel of the wedding. The reception dining room had floor to ceiling windows and there arrangements helped bring the outdoors inside.

It was just such a lovely day and I’m so glad I got to work with Robyn and Matt.
The amazing photos are courtesy of the talented Jessica Strickland Photography.

Clementine hosted a really fun party to kick off the wedding season in style! All the guests are our industry friends and partners that we’re so fortunate to work with on a regular basis. I really wanted to just have a good time – I do love planning parties after all. It was a great success and I think everyone had a wonderful time.
All the participating vendors really out did themselves. Thank you again Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Jewell Events Catering, A Stem Above, J. Brown Photography, Cage and Aquarium, Take the Cake, 4 Flashes Photobooths, Event Creative, Halls Rental and Windy City Linens.

We of course featured the official Clementine colors, which was so fun for spring! We wanted a casual, welcoming environment so we included all cocktail tables, high boys and two different lounge vignettes.

A Stem Above provided fresh, colorful flowers for all the cocktail tables, high boys and lounge sets.

Halls Rental provided all the tables, chairs and lounge peices and Event Creative added the pillow accents.

Take the Cake provided adorable mini cupcakes; a huge hit with the guests! Jewell Events Catering provided some amazing hors d’oeuvres; nobody went home hungry that’s for sure!

DJ Victor was spinning fun, up-beat, music all night long!

The party was supposed to end at 9:00 but this fun crowd stayed until 10:00! We practicaly had to kick them out! Melissa and I are right there in the middle having a blast with such a great group of people!

We can’t wait to have another kick off party next year!

I first noticed the fabulous works of Alexander Doll from Alexander and Company at a wedding in December 2010. It was a special gift to the bride and groom. I was lucky enough to meet the artist himself, as he was a guest at the wedding. I told him I wanted one even though I got married in 2008, and I meant it!
Soon after seeing his work at a wedding, I saw his posters at Magnificent Milestones and realized that Alexander was running quite the successful business. I’ve seen his work featured in CS Brides as well. I thought I’d share his awesome idea to all my clients.

The artwork is exquisite, creative and fun. What a great way to remember your wedding day. The quality of the artwork is so fantastic this is something you would truly want to keep up in your home for years and years. My client chose to have all their guests sign the matting around the poster as a guest book & keepsake.
I’d strongly suggest checking out his 2010-2011catalog to check out some great ideas. He also can create a custom poster for a baby’s room. They are seriously so adorable and make fantastic gifts.

Wearing a garter on your wedding day is an old tradition that a lot of my brides have skipped in recent years. A new trend is wearing a garter that is vintage inspired and not bulky or tacky as some of the “something blue” varieties can be.
Previously is a Chicago based company that re-creates authentic garters from the 1920′s. Original garters from that time were made with high quality fabrics and weren’t as disposable as they are today. Real garters from the 20′s have lost their stretch so Previously went on a mission to create garters with high quality fabric and craftsmanship.

Elide Endreson, Owner of Previously and designer explains her garters in more detail: “The 100% silk taffeta ribbon and cotton fabric lining are sewn directly to the elastic which provides a sleeker silhouette and better fit. The grey silk taffeta is very lightweight, pleats beautifully and has a softer, more subtle luster than silk satin. Just like the originals, the light blue cotton lining provides traction so the garters will stay in place. All ribbon flowers and embellishments are handmade by me. Pictured here are coral pink silk satin roses on top of hand pleated mint green silk satin embellishments.”

Elide points out that “garters were often sold in boxed sets in the 1920′s, and this was my inspiration for this series. The boxed set includes two coordinating bobby pins with handmade embellishments in silk satin. Your garters and matching bobby pins come in a box that they can be stored in as shown in the pictures.”
According to Elide flappers wore the garters just above the knee, not high up on the thigh.

What a great little treat for under your wedding dress. Something classy and elegant that you can cherish forever. This trend is popular among the celebrities too, I read in US Weekly that Mandy Moore wore a vintage inspired garter on her wedding day!

You must go and check out this fantastic new exhibit at the Chicago History Museum! I had the pleasure of attending an industry opening last week and had a wonderful time. The exhibit reminded me a lot of “Chic Chicago” if you had a chance to view that fantastic exhibit last year.
“I Do! Chicago Ties the Knot”, is really a wonderful collection of fashions, stories and accessories from weddings throughout time. The Chicago History Museum has an incredible collection of wedding gowns, suits and accessories dating back to the 1720′s. It’s so interesting to learn about past traditions and how they’ve changed over years. Some of the traditions have even stayed the same! Many of the old-fashioned styles have influenced the way brides celebrate today.
It would be really fun to take your bridesmaids to The History Museum before or after a bridal brunch, maybe you’ll get some new ideas for your own big day! The exhibition run through January 3, 2011.

I am a huge fan of the colored shoes craze! It’s not that it hasn’t been done in the past it is just that more and more brides are jazzing up their wedding day look with pops of color. For as long as I can remember the bride wore white or silver accessories and now brides are finally breaking the mold! I’ve seen colored nail polish, bright colored flowers in their hair, colored jewelry and of course colored shoes.

How fabulous does this couple look? They are clearly just being themselves which is so much fun. There is something so festive and whimsical about colored shoes on the bride.

The bridesmaids are even getting in on the action. If you choose neutral colored dresses like grey or champagne bright colored shoes will look great. Even if you are only comfortable with them choosing one color instead of multiple colors as shown in this picture.

Colored shoes is a great way to let your personality shine. It is another great way to incorporate your wedding colors. These purple shoes really enhance the color of the flowers in this picture. Think about how much fun these shoes would be to wear on your wedding day – plus you can always wear them again.
Here are some ideas of shoes that are available to buy now! I found all these adorable, bright, fun shoes at Zappos.com

Colored shoes is a great way to give your wedding look a burst of style, trend, personality and sass; even if you are a more traditional bride with a glamorous ballgown. Anyone can pull off this look!!
