I’m sure everyone remembers how unbelievable the weather was this past fall, especially since this winter has been pretty nice as well! Anne and Dan got married on October 22, 2011 and it was a super sunny and warm day, it felt like June!
They started their day taking pictures around Chicago with their bridal party. They really enjoyed being outside on such a surprising October day. These great pictures were taken by Cadence Cornelius Photography.

The Bride and Bridesmaids carried petite bouquets from Anna Held Flower Shop, they looked really nice with the bright blue dresses.

Anne and Dan got married at The Ravenswood Event Center, also known as The Ravenswood Billboard Factory which is located on Chicago’s northside in the Ravenswood neighborhood. This amazing atrium space was beautiful during their sunset vows. By the time the ceremony was over, the sun was completely set and the candles illuminated the room. It was very romantic. I just love the huge windows and the unique architecture of the space, there really isn’t another space like it.

The Bride made these adorable ceremony programs. She chose a few different patterns of paper to mix it up a bit and they looked great.

After the ceremony the guests were invited downstairs for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Food for Thought provided a delicious assortment of passed hors d’oeuvres including: Ginger sesame beef on pappadam crisps with chili aioli, lemongrass chicken on sugarcane skewers and pear & brie quesadillas with fresh mango salsa.

For dinner the guests enjoyed a beautiful sit down dinner in this cool loft space. Guests were able to choose their menu and were offered garlic and thyme marinated beef tenderloin, citrus rubbed french chicken breast and savory vegetarian crepes. The food and the service staff were excellent and guests really enjoyed themselves.

Anne collects salt and pepper shakers and this vintage cake topper is actually a set of shakers! The groom’s sister gave the newly engaged couple the gift as a Christmas present and the Bride loved them so much she decided to use them for her cake topper. It is a really cute personal touch. The beautiful (and tasty) wedding cake was designed and created by Dinkel’s.

After their amazing three course meal, the guests were invited back upstairs to the atrium which had turned into a dance floor and bar during dinner. Guests partied the night away with the talented DJ from Okyne Media Lab.
A really fun surprise was when the servers passed around Dairy Queen Blizzards!! Talk about an awesome late night snack.

As guests were leaving the event there was a table near the exit with party favors thanking the guests for coming to celebrate their big day. Inside the boxes were white love bird salt and pepper shakers. I thought it was a sweet take away and they will surely get a lot of use.

Anne and Dan’s wedding really went off without a hitch and it was such a fun day from start to finish. Clementine really enjoyed getting to know them and we wish them all the best!

From the first moment I met Genny and Alex they knew exactly what they wanted for their special day…..an open air dinner on a sunny August day. During all the months and months of planning we, of course, made sure we had a plan B in case Chicago decided to rain on their special day. Amazingly enough, they got a perfect sunny day and everything else just fell into place.

Genny and Alex tied the knot at the stunning Old St. Pats, it was a very beautiful ceremony. They held their reception at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. They were able to utilize the entire building. They hosted cocktail hour in the main lobby and outside on the outdoor ravine. Dinner was upstairs on their outdoor terrace and dancing was in their south gallery that has floor to ceiling windows. The Nature Museum is so beautiful and all the butterflies and flowers helped make their special day all the more magical.

The reception had a great romantic and whimsical feel, Hello Darling outdid themselves with so many great custom touches.

Between Blue Plate Catering and Hello Darling the dinner tables were stunning. They incorporated really interesting vessels including custom made birch bark and pine boxes, wooden circles with hand painted numbers, mason jars and glass lanterns. I just love this Willow Twist linen provided by BBJ Linen.

The dinner portion of the evening was spectacular. They served an amazing menu of beef tenderloin, jumbo shrimp, mixed vegetables and roasted baby potatoes. They started the night with a beautiful and colorful sangria salad with goat cheese, pine nuts, mandarin oranges and fresh peaches. The menu was perfect for summer and the guests really enjoyed the meal. The service staff provided by Blue Plate was top notch, the guests were truly wined and dined.

Beyond a wonderful meal, the atmosphere was like a fairytale thanks to Frost Lighting for hanging cafe lights over all the dinner tables. The Gentlemen of Leisure provided a 5 piece combo for dinner music which helped enhance the atmosphere.

Tipsy Cake custom created this beautiful wedding cake for Genny and Alex. They were able to hand pick the flavors of the cake. The chose three delicious flavors: white cake with milk chocolate buttercream, chocolate cake with raspberry jam, cream cheese and chocolate buttercream and white cake with coconut cream. It was fantastic.

The band expanded to an impressive 15 piece dance band and the guests had a blast. Alex and Genny had their first dance under custom fabric treatment and chandeliers provided by Hello Darling and Frost Lighting.

It was such an amazing day and I was so proud of this event. Genny and Alex had a vision from the beginning and I’m so happy I was able to help them bring all their ideas to life. I wish them all the best!
The talented Kurt Gerber of Gerber and Scarpelli provided all these stunning pictures. Kurt really captured their special day.

Additional vendors that participated in this wonderful event: Magnificent Milestones custom designed their invitations, Windy City Trolley provided the transportation for the wedding day and Red Eye Photo Booth kept the fun going all night with their photo booth.

Megan and Chris planned to have a fun, laid back event and boy did they succeed! The moment I met the two of them, I knew their big day would be so much fun! They both have really fun personalities and they let loose on thier wedding day!
Michael Monar Photography captured all these amazing moments.

Megan and Chris got married on July 23rd, 2011 and I’m sure you don’t remember the weather but it was very HOT that day. What better way to cool off during the photo session than stopping at an ice cream truck! I cannot believe Megan chose a colored popsicle for her treat! Talk about laid back!!

Both the ceremony and reception were held at Gallery 1028. The venue really fit the couples overall style with the rustic yet modern vibe it presents. Megan had the girls wear any gray dress of their choice so the bridesmaids could reflect their own style. I love how Chris is the only guy wearing gray, it really helped him to stand out and the yellow socks are just so much fun!

Studio AG helped bring their style to life with this stunning ceremony decor. I love how illuminating the candles and chandeliers were in the dark event space. It was very romantic and modern.

Some of the fun details provided by Megan and Chris: Custom made slap coozies for the guest’s drinks! Guests had fun slapping them onto their drinks and wrists all night!

Their welcome table really set the tone for the event. This is the first thing guests saw when the entered the venue. The pattern on the welcome sign matched their linens perfectly. The mailbox for their gift cards matched their personality! They also had a guest book with fun papers and patterned/colored tape that guests could mix and match.

They had three different table designs throughout the dinner space, this is a picture of the head table which was a large feasting table. The runners were custom made by the bride herself! Calihan Catering provided really fun dinner stations including amazing dishes of paella, tacos, custom pasta, gazpacho and much more!
After dinner Megan changed into an adorable and sassy party dress! She looked fantastic! They had Record A Hit provide a flip book station which was a huge hit, both at the booth AND on the dance floor. The guests loved it and it was a nice change from the ever popular photo booth. Cage and Aquarium kept the dance floor packed all night thanks to DJ Tyler.

They topped off the night with Chicago style hot dogs provided by Calihan Catering. Another perfect summer treat!

I think it is safe to say that not only did Megan and Chris have the time of their lives, but so did all their guests. They really stayed true to who they are as a couple and it worked out wonderfully.
Clementine was so happy to work with such an amazing couple and we wish them the best!

Jessica and Aaron got married on June 25th 2011 at the beautiful Rookery! From the moment I met them I knew their wedding was going to be a very special and elegant.
I knew just who to suggest for their floral and boy did they deliver! Scarlet Petal created the stunning bouquets; I was in awe when I first saw them, they were exactly what the bride wanted. I loved all the texture and the blooms were so big and fresh!

Kenny Kim Photography (assisted by Bob Davis & Collin Pierson) captured their wonderful wedding day. He was fantastic to work with and these images are just amazing. He really did a great job telling the story of their special day.

The ceremony was spectacular! The bridal party entered from the front of the building (which was behind the guests); they walked down the aisle. Jessica surprised everyone when she entered down the main stair case, directly in front of the guests. It was very beautiful, and very grand.

After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed cocktail hour on up on the balcony. Jewell Events Catering served delicious and adorable hors d’oeuvres including shrimp wrapped in peapods and lamb crepes with cherry balsamic fondue.

While the guests were mingling and sipping on cocktails, the catering staff, floral team and Clementine helped to flip the room from ceremony to dinner. Scarlet Petal created these stunning centerpieces. They added the bridal bouquets to the base of the arrangement on the bride and groom’s table.

Jessica and Aaron had the most impressive five tier cake from Take the Cake. The cake was so perfectly done that Jessica was speechless when she saw it. It was of course equally as tasty as it was pretty. They chose the classic combination of white buttermilk cake with strawberry conserve and cream cheese filling. The entire cake was decorated in buttercream.

Jessica and Aaron wowed their guests during their first dance! Xixi from Chicago Wedding Dance taught them a beautiful dance and they looked so natural and confident. They really had a good time with it, the guests got up on their feet for the special moment.

Jewell Events Catering prepared a decadent meal of beef and lemon scallops paired with sautéed spinach, whipped potatoes and asparagus spears, what a treat!

They really had a wonderful time and all their guests enjoyed toasting and dancing the night away. Clementine wishes the newlyweds all the happiness in the world! They were so wonderful to work with and we wish them all the best.

I was beyond thrilled to work with Leyla and Charlie for their May 21st wedding at The Rookery in Chicago. They have such fun, creative personalities which really added a lot of personal touches to their fantastic wedding. The wonderful and talented Laurie Peacock Photography captured all the special moments and details.

They became husband and wife at Assumption Church in Chicago. They couldn’t have asked for a nicer morning, especially since May was such a rainy month in Chicago this year.

The reception was filled with little details that are special to the bride and groom. New Orleans was the un-offical “theme” of the event and the bold colors really looked fantastic in The Rookery. It was a nice contrast having the bold style of New Orleans alongside a Burnham built building that has intricate gold stenciling by non other than Frank Lloyd Wright!

These gorgeous centerpieces were created by Blumgarten and they captured the brides vision perfectly. They gave away chocolates in the shape of the fleur-di-lis which is a French symbol associated with New Orleans.

The dinner menu was even NOLA inspired with beef tenderloin and BBQ shrimp with creole ssauce served over creamy stone ground grits. The talented chefs at Jewell Events Catering did a great job, the entree was fantastic and a big hit among the guests.

Take the Cake designed the beautiful and elegant wedding cake. The design reflected the style of the bride’s wedding gown and it was just stunning. Guests exclaimed it was the best wedding cake they’d ever tasted!
Please view this awesome video filmed by Kinema Group Films - they edited it during the reception and surprised everyone with a quick show and the bride, groom and guests had many tears.

I love the fresh vibe you get at The Danada House, located in Wheaton, Illinois. The grounds are so beautiful and include lots of fresh flowers, green grass and horse stables. The Danada House has so much fantastic charm, it really is the perfect setting for a summer wedding.

Robyn and Matt exuded a fresh, laid back, style and it was perfect for the venue. The bride was stunning with flowers in her hair and on her dress. Jenna Bruhn from Avant Gardenia creative an amazing bouquet that fit the bride’s style perfectly.

The groom and groomsmen looked sharp and cool on such a hot day! I am convinced this wedding happened on the hottest day of 2010.

The ceremony was held outside and was surrounded by trees, grass and sunshine.

The reception details really kept with the overall theme of the wedding. It was just beautiful and the vibrant green matched the green of the trees in the back ground nicely.

These centerpieces were perfect for the look and feel of the wedding. The reception dining room had floor to ceiling windows and there arrangements helped bring the outdoors inside.

It was just such a lovely day and I’m so glad I got to work with Robyn and Matt.

Caroline and Edward really celebrated their wedding in style. Every detail was perfectly matched, charming and casual/chic. The whole event was extremely romantic and well thought out.
The picturesque beach setting is from non other than The 63rd Street Beach House. This post might get me in trouble because I once blogged about how difficult this venue can be if your not prepared for the Chicago weather; however Carrie and Ed’s day was beyond perfect.
All pictures are courtesy of the very talented Laurie Peacock!

They held their ceremony under the main pavilion of the beach house which over looks Lake Michigan. The view is so beautiful that the couple didn’t need to add a lot of ceremony decor. The bride’s dress was a perfect choice for their outdoor, beach wedding.

The architecture of the beach house is really intricate and is a great back drop for weddings. Their simple and elegant “alter” arrangements are the perfect size and style for the space.

After the ceremony, the guests had cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the south wing of the beach house. Since the weather was so nice and breezy the guests enjoyed the open air of the event space.

While they were cocktailing the staff broke down the ceremony and created this beautiful floor plan for their seated dinner. You can’t tell from this picture but the dance floor was located lake side at the top of the pavilion.

Some of the details I was mentioning earlier: Look at these fantastic menu cards, place cards and table numbers!

All in all it was a perfect day and Clementine wishes the happy couple all the best as their 1 year anniversary is approaching.

Congratulations Christina and Ken!

This romantic couple had such a special and beautiful wedding day. They exchanged their vows standing beside their closest friends and family at St. James Chapel. The bride’s dress was absolutely stunning with layers and lace.

They were escorted to and from the ceremony and reception in a stylish Rolls Royce provided by Classic Chassis. The perfect touch for such an elegant wedding.

The Ivy Room was decked out in Navy, Lavender and Ivory. Lauren Petersen at Kehoe Designs created a warm envivorment using lush lounge vignettes, cocktail tables and tall Delano tables with bar stools; it looked spectacular. The guests really enjoyed the modern style and cocktail seating; it was very sleek and sophisticated. Christina and Ken chose to serve delicious action stations for dinner created by Emily Vandevender and Jewell Events Catering. The menu really fit the overall style of the event perfectly.

Le Sucre made this fabulous wedding cake. It is constructed by little individual cakes, enough for each guest to have their own. Christina and Ken even provided little to go cake boxes so guests could take their cakes home if desired. They were absolutely adorable and perfectly ideal for the grand finale after the amazing dinner.

Pops for Champagne has been a second home to the newly weds for years. They have seen Ava Logan perform live at Pops many times and asked her to sing at their wedding. Her voice, style and grace was such a lovely touch to the elegant atmosphere. Ava and her band fit into the overall look and feel of the wedding perfectly. Christina and Ken had been together for many years before tying the knot so they appropriately chose “At Last” by Etta James as their first dance.

They danced the night away and even served late night White Castle sliders – a huge hit! When the reception came to an end they of course went for drinks at Pops with an intimate group of friends. The perfect end to a truly wonderful wedding ceremony and celebration.

Clementine Custom Events was honored to be a part of such a special wedding and we had a wonderful time partnering with such fantastic vendors. We wish the newly weds all the best!

Trying to find your perfect venue can prove to be very difficult. The venue will set the tone for your entire event. It will help determine the style dress you will wear, the kind of menu you will serve and the colors that you can use for decor and wedding party attire. Here are some tips to help make the venue search a bit easier.
1) Make a list of priorities. What is the most important feature?
Do you want indoor/outdoor access like this amazing courtyard at The Ivy Room at Tree Studios.

Would you prefer to host your reception in a hotel for maximum guest comfort and convenience? This fantastic, modern ballroom can be found in the Trump International Hotel and Tower.

Do you want a special menu? Do you crave something unique? Zed451 has high quality food that is served in a very modern style.

Do you want unique architecture like the historic Rookery?

2) Be realistic: You might not be able to find a venue that has everything on your “wish list”
3) Research to be sure you can afford to host your wedding at your preferred venue. A lot of my clients book venues that they simply cannot afford because they didn’t realize there might be additional costs associated with the space. Make sure you know exactly what is included.
4) Follow your heart. If you find a venue that makes your heart sing you need to go for it! Choose a place that is uniquely yours and makes you feel special and creative. Even if it isn’t exactly what you parents had in mind or maybe it is really different than everything your friends have done in the past.
5) Book your venue first! Make sure you lock in your venue before you choose your dress, inviations, party favors, wedding party colors etc… the venue is going to set the tone for the entire event!
